At Dynamic Martial Arts we train students to the best of their abilities and help them accomplish their specific goals. Some students come to us in shape, while others have come to us 100 pounds overweight. Most students come to us with busy schedules and limited flexibility. We take students at any age; we have had students start in their 50’s that have earned their black belt. As a student, you are looked upon as an individual, never compared to anyone else. Our instructors will be there every step of the way. All that is expected of you is a willingness to try.

Although different martial arts vary in the levels of rigorous physical activity, nearly all of them will improve conditioning and fitness. With obesity rates as high as they are, more and more adults need to find a physical activity they enjoy, to keep their health in check. Martial arts can provide a source of fitness that is enjoyable, life enriching and can be maintain for many years.
A successful practice of martial arts requires a large amount of mental fortitude.Knowing you have a challenge up ahead and developing the discipline needed to achieve that is an important life skill that will translate to many other areas of your life. Another important aspect of martial arts is feeling, accepting and controlling your emotions. By practicing martial arts, you will feel anger, fear, frustration and anxiety, at some point. The way you deal with these emotions will help you grow mentally.
Many issues of mental health are helped by martial arts and fitness. Martial arts can help addiction, ADHD, and autism; martial arts for adults can also help bring on a sense of purpose. Adults are goal-oriented and exploring that side of our human nature is important for our happiness. The motivation that can build up for many can power you through your fitness goals, as well as your life goals.
In adulthood, it can be difficult for some to find friends with mutual interests and outlooks. Martial arts is a great place to meet new people, and the shared dedication to the practice can help bond people and create lifelong friendships. Powerful bonds are made when going through difficult trials – such as belt testing.
The ability to defend yourself against an assailant is an empowering feeling. You can be certain that with regular practice, you will learn to defend yourself in a variety of different ways. We also teach street-smart techniques to help avoid problems altogether.
Can I come in and just observe a class?
Yes, of course you (and your child) are invited to sit back and watch our classes in action. However, for safety and security reasons, we ask that you notify the instructor in advance that you plan on attending.
How often do we need to come to class and when are your classes?
Our programs fit into almost any schedule (remember, ALL of the families that already take classes with us are super busy too!). We have students who are successful in our program at only one day a week, and we have students who love classes so much that they come in several days a week. If you have questions about the schedule (it may not be obvious which class is appropriate for your child), please call us.
Can we try it before we sign up?
We always start with a Trial Program. It’s really important not only for you to be able to make sure our program will be beneficial, but for us to be sure we can appropriately meet your goals. We’ll be teaching life lessons, challenging limiting beliefs, and setting short & long terms goals, so it’s important that our values are congruent before we begin that life changing journey. However, because this introductory time is so important, we limit the number of new students during each trial period. So if you want a space, please be sure to sign up for one! If there are no spaces, we’ll put you on the waiting list.
Do you offer beginner classes for children and adults?
Yes, we offer classes especially for beginners whether they are child or adult.
Do you host birthday parties?
Yes, we do children’s birthday parties. It does not matter whether the birthday child is a student or not, our parties are fun for everyone! Please call us at (203)629-4666 for more information.
